"Utopie Créative" 2022 - Nicolas Barbou

"Utopie Créative is the very first cuvée produced by Nicolas Barbou after establishing his estate. This Sauvignon Blanc comes from 50-year-old organic vines planted on sandy soil composed of quartz and clay. The wine undergoes 20 months of aging in wooden barrels, with minimal sulphur added during this period.

It reveals an aromatic nose and a crisp, fresh palate that culminates in a long, elegant finish. It pairs wonderfully with goat’s cheese and braised asparagus. In 2020, only 2,500 bottles of this rare wine were produced, making it highly sought after by wine enthusiasts.

This cuvée is even more profound than 'Folie Insolente'. While it may have slightly less power than in 2020, it gains in finesse and precision. Expect fresh white fruit aromas, soft spices, a hint of exotic fruit, and a touch of frangipane. On the palate, the powerful texture is well-balanced, leading to a long finish with delicate saline bitterness."
