Timeless icon of the Médoc, quintessence of refinement and depth

Symbol of Bordeaux elegance, Château Margaux is one of the five First Growths of the Médoc since 1855. This legendary estate, located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, embodies both aristocratic tradition and discreet innovation. Since 1977, it has belonged to the Mentzelopoulos family, with Corinne Mentzelopoulos at its helm, now supported by her son Alexis, and the general manager Philippe Bascaules.

A magnificent terroir

The vineyard extends over 102 hectares of vines planted on deep Günzian gravel soil, perfectly drained, resting on a limestone base. This exceptional geological structure, combined with an ideal exposure, gives rise to wines of unparalleled purity, grace, and longevity. Cabernet Sauvignon (about 89% in the grand vin) dominates, complemented by Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.

Viticultural excellence and absolute precision

The cultivation of the vine is based on extremely rigorous plot work, respectful of the environment. The harvest is entirely manual, and each plot is vinified separately. Vinification takes place in wooden vats, then aging in 100% new barrels for 18 to 24 months, in the remarkable underground cellar designed by Norman Foster.

Style & emblematic cuvées

Château Margaux stands out for its extreme refinement, its intense nose of violet, blackcurrant, graphite, and cedar, its silky texture, and its long, straight, and deep structure. It is an excellent wine for aging, capable of gracefully spanning decades.
The estate also produces Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, a second wine of very high level, and Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux, a great white wine made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
