Originally desert-like, the Priorat has become, in 25 years, the queen appellation of Catalonia. Twenty years ago, wines were sold at 1 CHF per liter, whereas today the price of a bottle can exceed 500 CHF.
Main grape varieties (red wines): garnacha, merlot, pinot noir, tempranillo, carinena.
Wine style: purple color, scents of redcurrant jam, blackberries.
Aging potential: from 7 to 20 years for red wines and 3 to 5 years for dry white wines.
