The DO Toro, located in the province of Zamora in Castile, not far from the Portuguese border, owes its name to the town of Toro, an emblematic place in the wine region. The appellation covers about 62,000 hectares, of which 5,800 are currently planted with vines.

Recognized for its powerful and intense red wines, the DO Toro owes much of its development to the legendary estate Vega Sicilia, which marked a turning point in the region's history with the establishment of its project Bodega Pintia. The first vintage of this estate was launched in 2001, and since then, many prestigious estates from northern Spain have chosen to invest in the DO Toro, bringing with them new winemaking techniques and contributing to the international reputation of the appellation.

The wines of Toro are mainly made from the grape variety Tinta de Toro, a local variant of Tempranillo, which produces powerful, structured wines rich in aromas of black fruits, leather, and spices. These wines, often aged in oak barrels, develop exceptional complexity and depth over time. Thanks to their strong personality and aging potential, the wines of Toro are increasingly sought after on the international scene.

The wines of Toro pair perfectly with grilled meats, stews, and aged cheeses, highlighting their robust and harmonious character.
