The Pomerol appellation is mainly known thanks to its jewel Petrus, one of the rarest and most expensive in the world.
It is the only one of the great appellations in the Bordeaux region that has never experienced a rigid hierarchical classification.
The wines of the appellation are round and supple and develop complex aromas of red fruits.
Main grape varieties: Merlot predominates followed by Cabernet Franc and to a lesser extent Cabernet Sauvignon.
