Saint-Emilion is the first vineyard classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, making it one of the most famous in the world.
The appellation today includes four Premier Grand Cru Classé A: Château Cheval Blanc, Château Ausone, Château Angélus, Château Pavie as well as fourteen Premier Grand Cru Classé B.
With an intense purple color, Saint-Emilion can either be powerful and concentrated, or on the contrary, refined and delicate.
The aging potential is about twenty years, or even more for the best wines of the appellation.
The main grape varieties are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, as well as Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon but in very small proportions.
The greatest vintages of the appellation: 2010, 2005, 2003, 2001, 2000, 1998, 1995, 1990, 1983, 1982, 1964, 1961.
