This controlled designation of origin is a regional designation covering all the vineyard fields of Savoie or Savoyard vineyard and it is available in 16 geographical denominations.

Among these, we can distinguish Abymes, Apremont, Arbin, Cruet, Chignin, Chignin Bergeron, Crépy, Marignan, Montmélian, Saint Jean de la Porte, and Saint Jeoire Prieuré.

The AOC Vin de Savoie was only recognized in 1973 and records nearly 1,800 hectares of vineyards. This field extends and is scattered over the 28 communes of Savoie, over the 20 communes of Haute-Savoie, over 2 communes of Ain, and one commune of Isère.
