If you are interested in purchasing glasses or carafes, feel free to come and choose them in our shop at Avenue de Morgines, 35 or in our cellars in Carouge. We have a wide selection and are here to advise you.

Choosing a glass is not simple and not without importance during a tasting.

Here are some basic rules for buying the right glass with the wine you are going to taste:

  • White wine (from Chardonnay) will require a glass with a rounded, wide base that closes in to better retain the aromas.
  • Red wines (from Pinot Noir grapes) require an even rounder glass, so it can deliver more of its natural fruitiness. Conversely, red wines (from Cabernet Sauvignon) will require taller, more tapered glasses to make the wine more approachable and help it reveal itself a bit more.

The different types of glasses:

  • Burgundy glasses are rounded in shape, concentrating the aromas by allowing relatively restricted aeration due to a narrower opening.
  • Bordeaux glasses, more tapered with a wider opening, allow the wine to benefit from good oxygenation.
  • Champagne glasses should be tapered to facilitate the rise of bubbles.
