Château Latour 1952
Château Latour 1952
93 points Wine Advocate
"Tasted at the Ledbury 1950/1952 dinner. Although this vintage of Latour does not have a great reputation, I actually found a lot to admire here. It has an attractive bouquet, dusty black fruits at first but clearing with aeration to reveal a most floral aromatic profile: rose petals in an old antique vase, subtle wild mint notes and a touch of peppermint. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive delineation considering its age: notes of crushed strawberry, cedar, orange rind and tobacco. As with most wines from this vintage, it is austere on the finish, but this Latour has a femininity rarely found at this First Growth estate. Wonderful. Tasted July 2011.
