Anchored in Saint-Émilion since 1782, Château Angélus has become a symbol of the Bordeaux vineyard under the leadership of Victor and Alain Boüard de Laforest, and later their daughter Isabelle de Boüard-Rivoal, steward of the estate and a major figure in the wine classification. Positioned at the top of the hierarchy, Angélus today embodies the quintessence of the hillside terroir.

Philosophy & viticulture

Angélus adopts precise viticulture, combining tradition and modernity: manual harvesting, rigorous sorting, yield control, and respect for the soil. The integrated approach prioritizes the health of the vine, the expression of the vintage, and the typicity of the terroir. Vinifications are conducted by plot, in temperature-controlled vats with gentle punch-downs and followed by long macerations depending on the year.

Terroir & vineyard

The 29 ha vineyard, planted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, rests on the clay-gravel hills of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, exposed to the east. The soil offers a perfect balance between drainage and power, promoting intense and elegant wines.

Iconic cuvées

  • Château Angélus: Grand Cru Classé at the top, both concentrated and refined, with exceptional aging potential.

  • Le Carillon d’Angélus: second label from young vines, expressing a precise and fruity plot selection.

Wine style

Angélus offers powerful, deep wines with a silky tannic structure and a sophisticated aromatic framework. The balance between ripe fruit, minerality, and structural freshness makes them perfect bottles for aging and gastronomy.
