Brancaia is a Tuscan estate founded in 1981 by a Swiss family who fell in love with the Chianti hills. Today, the estate spans three complementary wine-growing areas: Castellina and Radda in Chianti for the great Sangiovese, and the coastal Maremma for Bordeaux grape varieties. The house is known for its style that is both precise, pure, and deeply rooted in the terroir.
Philosophy & Winemaking
Brancaia practices certified organic viticulture, with particular attention paid to the natural balance of the vine. Harvesting is done by hand, fermentations are spontaneous, and each plot is vinified separately. Aging is mainly done in French oak barrels, between 12 and 20 months, depending on the cuvées.
Iconic Cuvées
Il Blu: the iconic cuvée of the estate, a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, elegant, structured, and deep.
Ilatraia: a powerful red from the Maremma vines, composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.
Tre: an accessible and gourmet cuvée, based on three grape varieties and three terroirs, dominated by Sangiovese.
Chianti Classico Riserva and Gran Selezione: classic and refined expressions of Chianti, carefully aged.
Il Bianco, Rosé de Merlot, Stella (sparkling Chardonnay): a more confidential range that showcases the creativity of the estate.
Wine Style
The wines of Brancaia are distinguished by their freshness, aromatic purity, and balance. They combine the natural elegance of Sangiovese with the structure of Bordeaux grape varieties, with a resolutely contemporary approach. The style is straight, precise, and crafted for both aging and immediate consumption.
