Emblematic cuvée of Château Réné, Château Tertre Rôteboeuf is one of the most prestigious and rare wines of Saint-Émilion. From a small plot of 4 ha of clay-limestone and sands, this wine is cultivated using organic farming, with a meticulous approach allowing the expression of power and finesse in a single momentum.


Terroir & grape varieties


Complex soil mixing clay and sandy gravel, exposed at the top of the hillside, offering beautiful maturation while maintaining tension and freshness. The grape composition marrying ≈90% Merlot and ≈10% Cabernet Franc gives the wine a deep yet balanced opulence.


Viticulture & vinification


100% manual harvest, drastic selection in several passes. Vinification in stainless steel or wooden vats, with controlled extractions to preserve fruity sensuality. Aging for 18 months in oak barrels (~80% new), combined with malolactic fermentation in barrels for a silky texture.


Style & aging


This exceptional wine offers a dark robe, an intense bouquet of blackberry, truffle, and undergrowth. The palate reveals tactile concentration, melted tannins, and a long spicy finish. It blossoms after 10 years but shows aging potential of 20 to 30 years.
