A visionary story, a worldwide reputation
Founded in 1979 in Gratallops by René Barbier and Isabelle Meyer, Clos Mogador is one of the pioneers of the Priorat renaissance. With an approach inspired by the great French crus and a constant demand for excellence, it has elevated the appellation to one of the most prestigious in Spain.
An exceptional mineral terroir
The vineyard spans 20 hectares of steep terraces at an altitude of 250–350 meters. The schist soils (llicorella), the old low-yield vines, and the extreme climate forge grapes of remarkable concentration. The cultivated grape varieties – Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon – express the uniqueness of the place with intensity.
Style: power, finesse, purity
Clos Mogador produces a deep, structured, and silky wine, with aromas of black fruits, graphite, black olives, and spices. Its sharp minerality and balance on the palate make it a distinguished wine for aging, both vibrant and refined.
Iconic cuvée
The only wine of the estate, Clos Mogador is a blend of Grenache (45%), Carignan (29%), Syrah (16%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). It is aged for 18 to 20 months in 300 L barrels and foudres, without fining or filtration, to preserve the full expression of the terroir.
A philosophy based on purity
The viticulture is certified organic, with precise work in the vineyard, manual harvesting, and gentle vinifications in wooden, concrete, and stainless steel vats. Every gesture aims to magnify the terroir without artifice, in a spirit of respect, finesse, and authenticity.
