Mineral concentration, local authenticity, and strong Catalan expression
Located on the steep terraces of Priorat, a quality red label (DOQ), Cims de Porrera is an artisanal wine project driven by the cooperative of Porrera, highlighting native grape varieties planted on Catalan schists (“llicorella”) over more than 70 hectares, in responsible cultivation. This wine embodies the refined power and depth of mountain wines.
Terroir & grape varieties
The old vines, sometimes centuries-old, grow on the famous red & gray schists, offering a salty and complex minerality. The typical blend combines Garnacha (Grenache), Cariñena (Carignan) and sometimes a bit of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot for balance.
Viticulture & winemaking
Manual harvesting, meticulous sorting, prolonged maceration in vats or foudres. Natural fermentations (indigenous yeasts) are followed by aging for 12 to 18 months in foudres or barrels, prioritizing the expression of ripe fruit, fine tannic structure, and the mineral signature of the terroir.
Style & aging
The wine reveals notes of ripe black fruits, black olives, spices, graphite, and garrigue, with a dense yet elegant texture and a saline finish typical of the “steep terroir.” It can be kept between 8 and 20 years, gaining complexity over time.
