An exceptional small vintage shaped by the Tesseron family's demand
Château La Tour Figeac belongs to the Tesseron family, also owners of Figeac. It is currently overseen by Étienne Tesseron, in close collaboration with Claire Tesseron, technical manager, and the oenologist Julien Carré. Together, they focus on concentration and purity, with a style that combines finesse and depth.
Terroir & grape varieties: gravelly terroir and plateau influence
The estate, modest in size (≈ 5 ha), is situated on fine gravel mixed with limestone and clay, at the edge of the Figeac plateau. The main grape variety is Merlot (~80%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (~15%) and a bit of Cabernet Sauvignon (~5%), to offer structure, tension, and fragrance.
Viticulture & philosophy: micro-parcel and qualitative rigor
Sustainable viticulture, worked soils, careful pruning. Manual harvesting by micro-parcels, strict sorting for each grape. The goal is to express the quintessence of the terroir, with maximum traceability and quality.
Vinification & aging: purity, concentration, and woody elegance
Each parcel is vinified separately in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, macerations of 3 to 4 weeks with adapted pump-overs. Aging takes place over 16 months in French barrels (≈ 60% new), to enhance the tannins without masking the purity of the fruit.
