Founded in 1933 by five peasant families from Capçanes, the cooperative winery has become a key player in the DO Montsant. Since 1995, under the leadership of the project manager Anna Rovira and the export director Jürgen Wagner, it has developed a prestigious range, established over time thanks to the energy of more than 80 village members, united around a shared vision.
Philosophy & practices
Rooted in the cooperative tradition, the property combines simplicity and modernity. Manual harvesting, parcel-based vinification, indigenous yeasts, adapted aging (steel, barrels, amphorae): each gesture aims to faithfully reflect the terroir. The terroir expert Anna Rovira explains that "the wine makes itself, I only guide its expression."
Innovation manifested itself as early as 1995 with the introduction of a kosher “Lo-Mevushal” range, produced according to strict rites, now renowned on the international scene.
Terroirs & vineyards
The winery relies on vines from varied soils (granite, limestone, clay, sand, llicorella), supported by native grape varieties: Garnacha, Cariñena, Syrah, as well as Grenache blanc. The objective: to capture the diversity of Montsant through a micro-parcel approach.
Iconic cuvées
Peraj Ha’abib (Flor de Primavera): the wine that launched the tradition of modern Spanish kosher.
La Nit de les Garnatxes (terroir series sand, clay, limestone, llicorella): four bottlings of 100% Grenache, pure expression of the soils.
Cabrida: centennial Grenache, elected best cooperative wine of Catalonia.
Mas Donïs, Mas Collet, Costers del Gravet: young, elegant, fruity, highly awarded.
Kosher rosé and white: extension of the ritual range.
Wine style
The wines of Celler de Capçanes are a reflection of a brilliant Montsant, blending freshness, minerality, fruity richness, and elegant structure. The range unites the cooperative tradition and the desire for excellence, with a confident look towards the world.
