Located in Ampuis, at the heart of Côte-Rôtie, Stéphane Ogier has established himself as one of the Northern Rhône’s most important modern voices. Since taking over the family estate in the early 2000s, Stéphane has refined a style defined by purity, elegance, and a deep respect for terroir.

He vinifies a wide array of parcels across Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, and even the Southern Rhône, always with a focus on clarity and site expression.

Philosophy and winemaking

The approach is meticulous but natural: hand-harvesting, native fermentations, gentle extractions, and parcel-by-parcel vinification. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with a careful balance between new and used wood, often for up to two years.

Ogier’s style is all about grace and detail, avoiding heaviness while showcasing the depth of each site.

Wine style

The reds, mainly Syrah, are polished, floral, and textural — Côte-Rôtie at its most refined. Aromas of black fruits, violets, and spice unfold over fine-grained tannins. The whites, especially Condrieu, balance richness and freshness, with notes of stone fruit and bright acidity.

Entry-level IGP wines offer bright, accessible Rhône character with surprising depth and charm.
