Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe – Pioneer and Pillar of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape

A family saga since 1891
Located on the famous La Crau plateau, Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is one of the most emblematic estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. For over 130 years, the Brunier family has been cultivating the vineyard with passion and consistency. Today, Frédéric and Daniel Brunier represent the fifth generation at the helm of this legendary estate.

An exceptional terroir: rolled pebbles and mistral
The vineyard spans nearly 100 hectares, mainly situated on the La Crau plateau, renowned for its rolled pebbles resting on a clay-sandy subsoil. This unique terroir gives rise to structured, deep wines marked by great freshness.

Traditional viticulture and manual harvesting
Viticultural practices respect natural balances, with controlled soil work and partial grass cover. Harvesting is entirely manual, with meticulous sorting to retain only the healthiest grapes.

Long vinifications and aging in foudres
The grapes are vinified in wooden or stainless steel vats, with long fermentations. Aging lasts about 20 to 22 months in large oak foudres, allowing for a slow and harmonious evolution of the wines. No fining or filtration is done at bottling.

Signature style: power, finesse, and longevity
The reds of Vieux Télégraphe combine richness, minerality, and elegance, with notes of black fruits, spices, garrigue, and a noble tannic structure. They fully express themselves after a few years of aging and can evolve beautifully for 20 to 30 years. The whites, very aromatic, reveal floral aromas, white fruits, and a beautiful mineral tension.

Iconic cuvées:

  • Vieux Télégraphe Rouge: the estate's grand wine, powerful and racy

  • Télégramme: from younger vines, accessible earlier

  • Piedlong: elegant expression of a sandy terroir

  • Vieux Télégraphe Blanc: ample, floral, saline

  • Clos de la Roquète Blanc: finesse, balance, freshness
