The symbol of powerful and elegant Pauillac, between Bordeaux tradition and modernity

Historical estate of Pauillac, Château Lynch‑Bages has belonged to the Cazes family since 1939. Today, Jean-Charles and Jean-Michel Cazes oversee the entire operation, supported by Sarah Leconte (technical director) and the rigorous oenological team. The estate combines structured power, viticultural precision, and contemporary sensitivity.

Terroir & grape varieties

The vineyard extends over approximately 90 hectares, planted on deep Garonne gravel, mixed with clay and sand on a limestone subsoil. The grape varieties, typical of the Médoc, are distributed as follows:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon (~65%)

  • Merlot (~30%)

  • Petit Verdot & Cabernet Franc (~5%)

Philosophy & winemaking

Sustainable viticulture combining soil respect, controlled grass cover, manual/mechanical harvesting depending on the vintage, and meticulous sorting. The winemaking is parcel-based in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, followed by aging for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, with nearly 70% new wood. The dual ambition: expression of the terroir and harmonious structure.

Iconic cuvées

  • Château Lynch‑Bages: the Grand Vin, structured and dense, with notes of blackcurrant, graphite, cedar, and spices, with silky tannins and long aging potential.

  • Echo de Lynch‑Bages: second wine, fruity, elegant, and ready to drink young while retaining the Pauillac signature.

  • Pauillac de Lynch‑Bages: third wine, accessible and fresh, perfect for more immediate tasting.
