Founded in the late 1990s by enthusiasts of old vines, Bodegas Leda is now led by Juan Manuel Gonzalo, an oenologist trained between Burgundy and Spain. The estate aims to produce powerful yet balanced red wines, from old Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) vines, selected from various high-altitude areas of Castilla y León.

Its philosophy is based on the pursuit of a sincere expression of the grape variety, through sustainable viticulture, very low yields, and precise but non-interventionist winemaking. Leda breaks free from appellation limits to better highlight the diversity of Castilian terroirs.

Terroir & winemaking

Bodegas Leda does not own a single vineyard but works in parcel selection with vines ranging from 40 to over 100 years old, spread across different areas: Tudela de Duero, Cigales, Toro, or Ribera del Duero. This multi-terroir approach allows for blending complementary expressions of Tempranillo: minerality, tension, density, finesse.

The harvest is manual, fermentations take place in small vats with indigenous yeasts. The aging process is long (up to 24 months) in French and American barrels, often from various origins and different toasts to refine complexity.

Iconic cuvées

  • Leda Viñas Viejas: the estate's signature wine, dense, structured, combining power and freshness.

  • Más de Leda: a more accessible cuvée, focused on indulgence and black fruit, vinified with the same care.

  • Leda Selección (depending on vintage): an ambitious micro-cuvée, from the oldest vines, produced only in very great years.
