Refined elegance, classic harmony, and floral expression
Cru Classé of 1855, Château Prieuré‑Lichine is an estate of about 73 hectares in the heart of Margaux, symbolizing a balance between Bordeaux tradition and contemporary style. Owned by the Cruse family since 1999, it is led by the oenologist Mathis Lichine, a descendant of Baron Alexis Lichine, accompanied by a dedicated oenological team. The estate cultivates a subtle, charming signature true to its terroir.
Terroir & grape varieties
Vineyard planted on deep Günzian gravel, facing southwest, resting on clay-limestone soil. Classic blend: Cabernet Sauvignon (≈50%), Merlot (≈40%), Petit Verdot (≈8%), Cabernet Franc (≈2%), densely planted (≈8,000 vines/ha) to optimize finesse and structure.
Balanced viticulture
Parcel-based and reasoned approach, with selective grassing, manual harvesting, rigorous sorting. Environmental efforts – hedges, flowering meadows, earthworm management – aim to preserve biodiversity and soil vitality.
Classic vinification & aging
Vinification segmented by parcel in thermoregulated stainless steel vats, slow macerations (3 to 4 weeks) for elegant extraction. Aging for 16 to 18 months in French barrels (≈50% new wood), with alternating foudres to emphasize freshness and balance.
