Emidio Pepe — The Living Soul of Abruzzo
Located in Torano Nuovo, in the Abruzzo region, Emidio Pepe is a legendary name in Italy’s natural wine movement. Founded in 1964, the estate follows a purist, hands-on approach that reflects a deep connection to land and tradition.
Philosophy and Production
Everything is done manually: harvesting, destemming by hand, foot-treading, aging in raw concrete, and bottling without filtration. No additives are used — only nature.
The estate is farmed biodynamically, with careful attention to soil health, vine vitality, and balance. Wines are aged for years in the cellar before being released.
Wine Style
Pepe wines are vibrant, evolving, and soulful. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo shows black cherry, herbs, earth, and spice with generous texture and vivid energy. Trebbiano is unexpectedly complex — floral, waxy, stony, with piercing acidity.
These are wines built for aging — emotional, unconventional, and deeply authentic.
