Located at the edge of Pomerol, Château Grand Corbin-Despagne is a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion with a unique soul. Owned by the same family for over 200 years, it embodies a viticulture of transmission, commitment, and finesse, deeply respectful of its origins and its terroir.
A family history and anticipation
The Despagne family has been cultivating vines on this estate since 1812. Today, it is François Despagne, representing the 7th generation, who oversees this heritage with a vision combining tradition and sustainable innovation. The estate was one of the first in the appellation to commit to organic farming (certification obtained in 2013).
A terroir at the gates of Pomerol
The vineyard extends over 28.5 hectares of a terroir mixing ancient sands, blue clays, and siliceous gravels, giving the wine an airy allure, floral freshness, and great tannic elegance. The grape variety is dominated by Merlot, accompanied by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec.
Wine style: subtlety, suppleness, depth
The wines of the château are distinguished by their aromatic finesse, their velvety texture, and their natural balance. These are wines of high precision, driven by gentle vinification and tailor-made aging that reveal the character of the vintage without ever overplaying it.
Iconic cuvées
Château Grand Corbin-Despagne: the Grand Vin, combining floral freshness, silky structure, and great aging potential.
Quintessence de Grand Corbin-Despagne: an ambitious parcel-based cuvée, with great concentration.
Petit Corbin-Despagne: the second wine, charming, supple, and accessible in its youth.
A philosophy of precision
The estate cultivates a deep respect for living things through biodiversity, biodynamic preparations, HVE 3 certification, and gentle vinifications with indigenous yeasts, gentle macerations, and moderate oak aging. The goal? To offer wines that tell the story of a land, a history, and a vintage with sincerity.
