Domaine Henri Rebourseau – A Noble Tradition, a Viticulture in Motion


At the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, the Domaine Henri Rebourseau embodies a classic, rigorous, and ambitious vision of Burgundy. Founded in 1890 by General Henri Rebourseau, a great lover of fine wines, the estate has been passed down through generations with the same respect for the terroir and climates.


Today, the property is in the hands of the Rebourseau family, notably Bénigne and Louis de Surrel, young brothers deeply involved in the modernization of the estate. They have undertaken a true biodynamic transition, with viticultural practices geared towards the future while preserving the traditional Burgundian style.


The vineyard spans approximately 13 hectares, including 6 prestigious grands crus: Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Charmes-Chambertin, Mazy-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, and Clos de Vougeot. There are also several premiers crus and a Gevrey village. The vines are cultivated with certified biodynamics, with manual care, natural preparations, and respect for lunar rhythms.


In the cellar, vinifications are parcel-based and precise, with destemming adjusted according to the vintage. Fermentations take place in wooden or concrete vats, with moderate punch-downs. Aging lasts between 18 and 24 months, in oak barrels (up to 50% new for the grands crus), without excessive wood, to allow the natural elegance of Pinot Noir to shine through.


The wines of the estate combine classic structure, aromatic depth, and freshness. They are wines for aging and expression, with great integrity, yet capable of delivering fine nuances from their youth with good decanting. Chambertin and Clos de Bèze stand out for their nobility, Latricières for its minerality, Clos de Vougeot for its controlled power.
