Domaine de la Janasse – The Majestic Expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape

A Family History Rooted in the Rhône

Created in 1973 by Aimé Sabon, the Domaine de la Janasse is located in Courthézon, on the most noble lands of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Today, it is managed by Isabelle and Christophe Sabon, combining tradition, innovation, and viticultural rigor.

An Exceptional Vineyard on Rolled Pebbles and Sands

The estate spans over 90 hectares, including about 15 ha in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a great diversity of terroirs: rolled pebbles of La Crau, sandy soils of Chapouin, sandstone, and limestone. This mosaic allows for advanced parcel-based vinification.

The grape varieties highlight Grenache noir, sometimes centennial, but also Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and some white varieties. Sustainable agriculture, in conversion to organic.

Precise & Artisanal Vinification

Manual harvesting, partial destemming depending on the vintage, long macerations, vinifications in concrete or stainless steel vats. The aging is finely adapted: vats for fruit, foudres or demi-muids for structure, little use of new wood.

A Unique Style: Depth, Finesse, Length

The red wines of the estate are powerful, yet always balanced by great freshness, silky tannins, and a floral signature. The whites surprise with their fullness, vibrant minerality, and aging potential.

Iconic Cuvées

  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes: Centennial Grenache, depth, sweet spices, great aging potential.

  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape Chaupin: 100% Grenache on sands, purity, floral notes, length.

  • Côtes-du-Rhône Réserve: accessible, concentrated, qualitative reference of the appellation.

  • Terre d’Argile: dense and structured red, excellent value for money.

  • Blanc Prestige: finesse, freshness, stone fruits, floral notes.
