E. Pira & Figli — Barolo with heart, purity and precision

Chiara Boschis, one of the first women to make wine in Barolo, took over the historic E. Pira & Figli estate in the early 1990s. Based in Cannubi, she has elevated the domaine to elite status with her precise, expressive, and gracefully structured Barolos, often described as feminine in style, but serious in substance.

Her wines reflect both her rigorous craftsmanship and her deep sensitivity to the land.

Philosophy and winemaking

The vineyards are farmed organically and by hand, with extreme care. Chiara works some of the most prestigious Barolo crus, including Cannubi, Via Nuova, and Mosconi.

Grapes are harvested by hand, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, and aged in small French oak barrels, with a measured use of new wood. Her aim is to highlight Nebbiolo’s natural elegance, without over-extraction or heaviness.

Wine style

Chiara Boschis’s Barolos are known for their finesse, lift, and aromatic purity. Floral notes (rose, violet), red berries, spice, and silky tannins define her style. The wines are structured yet graceful, with excellent aging potential and a sense of harmony that lingers.

Each cuvée offers a refined, terroir-driven expression of Barolo.

Signature cuvées

  • Barolo Cannubi – Elegant, vertical, floral and deeply structured.

  • Barolo Via Nuova – Blended from top sites, balanced and layered.

  • Barolo Mosconi – Rich, earthy, firm tannins, long finish.

  • Dolcetto d’Alba – Fresh, lively, everyday red.

  • Barbera d’Alba Superiore – Juicy and intense with polished oak.

A pioneering voice in Barolo

Chiara Boschis brings a refined and honest voice to Barolo — a balance of tradition, detail, and soul. Her wines reflect a deep connection to site, clarity of vision, and a gentle yet powerful approach to Nebbiolo.
