Bold elegance, Mediterranean temperament, and sensory journey

A contemporary icon of Lebanon and a pioneer in the wine renaissance in the Middle East, Château Musar is a family adventure launched in the 1930s by Serge Hochar. Now led by Catherine Hochar, proud heir to this unique vision, the rural estate spans 80 hectares at varying altitudes (850–1,200 m), between the mountain peaks and the Bekaa Valley. Musar embodies emotion, tradition, and the unexpected.

A diverse and inspiring terroir

Planted on four distinct terroirs of the Bekaa (sandy loam soils, clays, limestone, and rocks), the vineyard fully exploits the microclimatic variations of altitude. The traditional grape varieties of the committed appellation are Cinsault (50–60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20–30%), Carignan (≈10%), and some Grenache, blended according to the vintages and the expression of the place.

Natural and vibrant viticulture

Musar relies on respectful viticulture, close to organic farming, with manual harvesting, indigenous yeasts, and minimal sorting. The approach aims to reflect the diversity and uniqueness of each plot and to let the fruit express and evolve.

Vinification & long aging

Fermentation is carried out by grape variety in stainless steel tanks, followed by post-fermentation blending unique to Musar. Aging traditionally continues in oak barrels and casks, with a prolonged aging style of 12 to 15 months. The wine then ages for several years in the bottle — often between 6 and 10 years — before being marketed, to reach its fullness.

Style & emblematic cuvée

Château Musar Red: a unique Lebanese blend with complex aromas of strawberry, oriental spices, garrigue, truffle, leather, and undergrowth. Dense structure, surprising balance between vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and a persistent, slightly saline finish. A wine of travel, which evolves intensely with age, capable of daring and surprising up to 50 years.
Château Musar White: rare, powerful, and aromatic, a dry white blending local grape varieties, with notes of white flowers, candied citrus, exotic spices, and a Mediterranean mineral freshness.
Château Musar Rosé: an elegant summer cuvée, predominantly Cinsault, aged in concrete tanks, vibrant and delicious.
