The Monbazillac appellation is located in the southwest of France, in the Dordogne region, and is renowned for its sweet wines, made primarily from the grape varieties Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle. These wines are often compared to the great sweet wines of Bordeaux, such as Sauternes, thanks to ideal climate and terroir conditions conducive to noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which allows the grapes to concentrate their sugar and achieve exceptional aromatic richness.

Monbazillac wines are distinguished by their opulence and complexity. They present rich aromas of candied fruits, dried apricots, honey, spices, and white flowers. On the palate, they are creamy, with a beautiful length and a finish often marked by a slight touch of acidity that balances the sweetness of the wine. Montbazillac can be enjoyed young, but it has significant aging potential, with aromas and complexity developing over the years.

The Monbazillac appellation has benefited from an AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) since 1936, guaranteeing the quality of its wines, and has gained a great reputation for its dessert wines.
