The absolute treasure of Pomerol, the ultimate expression of finesse, power, and rarity

A small confidential gem located in the southeast of the appellation, Château le Pin is one of the most emblematic and exclusive estates of Pomerol. Operated by the Thienpont–Léon family, the winemaking is orchestrated by Michel Thienpont, supported by Anne-Françoise Thienpont, both committed to meticulous viticulture and long aging in barrels.

Terroir & grape variety

  • Terroir: approximately 2 ha of fine gravel on clay, privileged hillside position, offering a powerful and well-drained terroir

  • Grape variety: mono-Merlot (100%), cultivated for the pure expression of the fruit and the place

Philosophy & practices

  • Viticulture very low yield, manual and plot-based

  • Manual harvesting, strict sorting

  • Traditional winemaking, short to moderate maceration

  • Aging between 18 and 24 months in French oak barrels, proportion of new wood varies according to the vintage

Iconic cuvée

  • Château le Pin: dark and velvety robe, intense nose of truffle, black cherry, violet, and smoke, dense, silky, concentrated palate, tinged with saline minerality and a long, elegant finish. This rare wine is a symbol of discreet luxury and depth.
