Harmony and elegance at the heart of Margaux

Located in Cantenac, in the very heart of the Margaux appellation, Château Marquis de Terme has been a Fourth Grand Cru Classé since 1855. The estate covers 40 hectares of vineyards on a terroir of deep gravel typical of the left bank. Since 2009, the estate has been dynamically managed by Ludovic David, who embodies the qualitative renewal of the property. He leads a strategy focused on viticultural precision, aromatic identity, and a contemporary interpretation of the Margaux style.

A terroir of nobility and structure

The deep gravel soils resting on a clay-sandy subsoil allow excellent water regulation and optimal ripeness of the Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety of the vineyard. The Merlot, Petit Verdot, and a bit of Cabernet Franc complete the grape composition. The expression of the Marquis de Terme terroir is marked by finesse, freshness, and floral notes.

Precision work

The viticulture is reasoned and plot-specific, with trials for conversion towards more sustainable agriculture. The harvest is done by hand, with rigorous sorting. Vinifications are conducted in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, with long fermentations, and the aging lasts about 16 to 18 months in barrels, of which 50% are new oak. The vinification seeks a balance between structure, fruitiness, and elegance, in a style that is both classic and modern.

Style & emblematic cuvée

Château Marquis de Terme: the estate's grand wine charms with its bouquet of violet, black fruits, sweet spices, and a palate that is straight, silky, fresh, and peppery. It is capable of harmonious aging over 15 to 20 years and ranks among the most consistent Margaux of its class.

A second label, La Couronne de Marquis de Terme, allows for a more immediate approach to the property's style.
