A bastion of finesse between Graves and tradition
Château de Fieuzal is one of the historic vineyards of Pessac‑Léognan, established in the 18th century and classified as Grand Cru in the early 1950s. Since its acquisition in the 21st century, the family continues to promote viticulture that respects the terroir, focusing on the balance between elegance, structure, and aromatic purity.
Terroir & grape varieties: gravelly terroir and elegant contrasts
The estate spans approximately 48 hectares of gravel, quartz, sands, and clays, with gravelly areas perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon but also deeper soils favorable to Merlot. The grape composition is typical: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, complemented by 5% Petit Verdot.
Viticulture & philosophy: multifaceted precision
Sustainable and reasoned viticulture with partial grass cover, biodiversity management, and manual harvesting sorted in several passes. The goal is to express the typicity of each terroir through targeted and responsible practices.
Vinification & aging: balance between tradition and modernity
Vinification by gravity in thermoregulated wooden and concrete vats, clear parcel separation. Long macerations of 3 to 4 weeks, followed by 16 to 18 months of aging in French oak barrels (50% new). Style combining saline tension, ripe fruit, and refined structure.
