Racy balance, mineral elegance, and Médoc freshness

Cru Classé (under the title of Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnels) of Moulis-en-Médoc, Château Poujeaux is a 65-hectare estate located on a gravelly hill overlooking the Gironde. Owned by Michel Rolland and the Miailhe family since 2011, with Antoine Moueix as the oenological director, the estate is recognized for its harmonious wines, with beautiful density while maintaining liveliness and finesse.

Terroir & grape varieties

Planted on deep Günzian gravel claiming excellent drainage, the clay-limestone subsoil ensures liveliness and precision. The classic grape composition includes approximately Cabernet Sauvignon (≈50%), Merlot (≈40%), Petit Verdot (≈8%), and Cabernet Franc (≈2%), planted at high density to promote concentration.

Demanding viticulture

Rigorous plot management, controlled grassing, manual harvesting, and very strict selection of grapes. A sensitive environmental approach complements the method: hedges, flowering strips, and a reasoned approach, to preserve biodiversity, living soil, and expression of the place.

Balanced vinification & aging

Fermentation by parcel measurement in stainless steel and concrete vats, macerations of 3 to 4 weeks adapted to the terroir. Aging for 16 to 18 months in French barrels (≈50% new wood) and small ovoid vats to preserve tension, purity, and complexity.

Style & representative cuvées

Château Poujeaux (Grand Vin): dark robe, finely fruity nose (blackcurrant, blackberry) with delicate spices and cedar. The palate reveals a beautiful structure, silky tannins, balanced by saline acidity and a long, clean finish. Excellent potential of 10 to 20 years.
Courtiade de Poujeaux / Les Tourelles de Poujeaux: accessible second wine, elegant and finely structured, true to the Poujeaux spirit but seductive at first glance.
