Domaine Leroy – Biodynamic Icon of Burgundy’s Ultimate Wines
Founded by Lalou Bize‑Leroy, Domaine Leroy represents the pinnacle of biodynamic winemaking in Burgundy. Operating approximately 10 hectares across legendary Grand Cru vineyards—from Romanée‑Saint‑Vivant and La Tâche in Vosne‑Romanée to Bâtard‑Montrachet, Bienvenues‑Bâtard‑Montrachet and Chevalier‑Montrachet in Puligny‑Montrachet—it produces wines of extraordinary pedigree.
The estate’s philosophy is uncompromisingly biodynamic: manual vine work, soil tillage, cover crops, zero herbicides, and vine-by-vine care. Harvest is hand-done with strict sorting. Vinifications are entirely native yeast-driven, with minimal intervention and very long, slow macerations. Ageing takes place in old French oak barrels for 18–24 months, with practically no new oak. Wines are bottled without fining or filtration, and sulfur is used only when absolute necessity arises.
Leroy wines are hallmarks of precision, depth and grace. They offer power without weight, an underlying mineral grip, and an aromatic purity seldom found. Pinot Noir is energetic and structured, with vibrant red fruit and saline tension. Chardonnay is crystalline yet rich, combining floral purity, taut acidity and layered complexity.
