Giuseppe Quintarelli — A living legend of the Veneto
In the rolling hills of Negrar, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica zone, Giuseppe Quintarelli is more than a wine estate — it’s a legend. The late Giuseppe (1927–2012), a master of patience and tradition, defined a timeless style of Amarone based on purity, balance, and extraordinary attention to detail.
Today, his family continues his work with devotion, preserving his unique philosophy and artisanal methods.
The estate covers about 12 hectares of old vines, farmed naturally and traditionally on volcanic and limestone soils. Yields are kept low, grapes are hand-harvested, and every bunch is carefully selected.
Philosophy and winemaking
Quintarelli’s style is based on the ancient appassimento method: grapes are dried for months after harvest to concentrate flavor and structure. Fermentation is natural and slow, followed by very long aging (often 7 to 10 years) in large Slavonian oak casks. The wine is never rushed — bottling only occurs when it's ready.
There is no filtration, no manipulation — only time, intuition, and respect for the fruit.
Wine style
Quintarelli wines are profound, powerful, and yet astonishingly graceful. The Amarone is rich and velvety, with notes of black cherry, cocoa, dried herbs, and soft tobacco. The Valpolicella is elegant and vibrant, a world away from the light wines the name often suggests. Every bottle marries concentration with freshness — a signature of balance and longevity.
These are wines built to last decades and reward patience.
Signature cuvées
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva – A majestic, deeply complex wine. Velvety, layered, and eternal.
Valpolicella Classico Superiore – Made in the ripasso style, aged for years. Silky, lifted, and unmistakably Quintarelli.
Alzero (Cabernet) – A rare, Amarone-style Cabernet Franc. Rich, exotic, and incredibly long.
Rosso del Bepi – Amarone “offspring” from non-reserve vintages. More approachable, but full of character.
Recioto della Valpolicella – Luscious red dessert wine, full of cherry liqueur, chocolate, and spice. A stunner.
A timeless legend
Giuseppe Quintarelli is more than a name — it’s a beacon of integrity, patience, and beauty in winemaking. With a style that transcends time and trend, the estate delivers wines that are not just to be tasted, but remembered. A true icon of Italian wine.
