Elegant biodynamics in a historical setting

A 25.5-hectare estate located on the west and south terraces of Pomerol, Château Mazeyres is a remarkable wine from the right bank of Bordeaux. Managed by Alain Moueix since 1992, it has been run biodynamically since 2012 (certified since 2018), embodying a holistic agronomic philosophy, respectful of life, in the service of winemaking and the expression of its ancient terroir.

A complex and expressive terroir

The vineyard unfolds over three distinct areas:

  • West plateau: fine clay-sandy gravel on pebbles, for straight, chiseled, elegant wines.

  • South terraces: clay sands on deep clay, for more spherical and concentrated profiles.

  • East plateau foot: gravelly-sandy clays rich in structure, providing power and framework to the blend.

This mosaic of soils, traversed by the microorganisms of living soils, gives the Merlot a velvety texture and a unique mineral intensity.

Viticulture & philosophy

The estate is certified biodynamic, advocating a holistic approach, guided by lunar rhythms and a dialogue between the vine and the soil. Interventions are targeted, natural, and each plot is managed with precision to preserve the unique identity of each terroir.

Vinification & aging

Fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, in tanks adapted by batch. The grand vin is then aged for about 12 to 18 months, in barrels depending on the vintages, to respect the balance between fruit, terroir, and structure.

Style & emblematic cuvées

Château Mazeyres (grand vin): Merlot-dominated, sometimes enriched with Cabernet Franc. Aromatic profile: blackcurrant, violet, licorice, with a silky texture and mineral freshness. The wine stands out for its finesse, long finish, and vibrant expression of the terroir.
Le Seuil de Mazeyres (second wine): more fruity, accessible, and dynamic, it offers an enticing glimpse of the spirit of the estate.
