Domaine Ponsot — Burgundy through a singular, uncompromising lens

Founded in 1872 and based in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Ponsot is one of the most iconic names in Burgundy. For decades, it was led by the charismatic and innovative Laurent Ponsot, whose radical approach shaped the estate’s unique style and international renown.

The domaine farms around 10 hectares of vines, many of them old or ancient, across some of the most prestigious terroirs in the Côte de Nuits: Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, Griotte-Chambertin, Chambertin, Corton, and more. Every parcel — whether village or grand cru — is treated with equal care and respect.

Philosophy and winemaking

Ponsot is proudly non-interventionist and anti-standardized. Though not certified, viticulture follows organic and biodynamic principles. Harvesting is always late, ensuring full phenolic ripeness.

In the cellar: no commercial yeasts, no fining or filtration, no sulfur at bottling. Fermentations are natural, and aging takes place in old barrels or neutral vessels. Every decision is made to let the vineyard speak — not the winemaker.

Wine style

Ponsot wines are unmistakable: deep, vibrant, and built for long aging. They carry bold aromatics — ripe red fruit, spice, dried flowers, earth — and a texture that is both rich and ethereal. There’s always energy, verticality, and tension beneath the surface.

The domaine also produces singular and age-worthy whites, including a rare Premier Cru from Morey-Saint-Denis made from Aligoté.
