Fine balance, distinguished expression, and enhanced terroir
Petit-Figeac, a refined satellite of the majestic Figeac, spans 18 hectares on plateau and slopes in Saint-Émilion. Owned by the Duffau-Lagarrosse family, the estate is precisely guided by Laurent Duffau-Lagarrosse, supported by a technical team committed to high-standard viticulture, aiming for the pure expression of the terroir.
Terroir & grape varieties
The vineyard rests on clay-gravel soils mixed with fine sands, in a single-parcel, offering finesse, complexity, and depth. Classic blend: Merlot (≈65%), Cabernet Franc (≈30%), and A small touch of Cabernet Sauvignon (≈5%), planted at medium-high density to optimize concentration and balance.
Parcel-based viticulture
Strict parcel-based approach with natural grass cover, complete manual harvesting, and impeccable sorting. Sustainable viticulture integrates biodiversity, limiting inputs, to maintain the living connection between the vine and its soil.
Vinification & sober aging
Vinification by micro-lots in thermoregulated stainless steel and concrete vats, natural fermentations with long macerations (2 to 3 weeks). Aging for 14 to 16 months in French barrels (≈40–50% new wood), to bring structure, elegance, and respect for the fruit without excessive woodiness.
Style & main cuvée
Château Petit-Figeac – Grand Cru: garnet robe, chiseled nose of blackberry, black cherry, violet, white pepper, and graphite. Refined palate, delicate tannins, lively acidity, and persistent saline finish. Subtle style, discreet charm, ready to drink from 5 years, but matures elegantly for 15–20 years.
