Domaine Roulot — The light and tension of Meursault
Based in the village of Meursault, Domaine Roulot is one of the most sought-after names in white Burgundy. Under the direction of Jean-Marc Roulot, an actor-turned-vigneron, the domaine has gained a cult following for its tense, crystalline Chardonnays that showcase exceptional terroir precision.
Farming is certified organic, with meticulous vineyard work across roughly 12 hectares, mostly in Meursault, including premier cru and village parcels.
Philosophy and winemaking
Vineyards are organically farmed, with soils carefully managed to ensure maximum energy and life. All grapes are hand-harvested at full ripeness but never overripe.
In the cellar, the approach is minimalist and precise: slow pressing, light settling, native yeast fermentation, and aging in mostly used oak barrels for 12–18 months. There is little to no bâtonnage, in order to preserve purity and minerality.
Wine style
Roulot wines are pure, focused, and mineral-driven. The Chardonnays show tension, light, and subtle fruit, with remarkable length and aging potential. These are refined, cerebral wines, that speak of place with restraint and clarity — Meursault at its most elegant and energetic.
Signature cuvées
Meursault "Les Vireuils" – Zesty and saline. Citrus and lift. A brilliant entry point.
Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" – Broader and more generous, yet finely balanced.
Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières" – The domaine’s flagship: linear, mineral, age-worthy.
Meursault 1er Cru "Les Bouchères" – Floral, elegant, with delicate texture and precision.
Bourgogne Blanc – Exceptional for its class. Crisp, direct, and full of energy.
A master of modern white Burgundy
Jean-Marc Roulot has elevated the domaine to elite status, crafting wines of purity, brightness, and understated power. Revered by collectors and sommeliers alike, Roulot stands at the very top of Meursault — a true benchmark of Chardonnay finesse.
