Château Beychevelle, classified as 4th Grand Cru in 1855, is one of the most iconic estates in the Médoc. Located in the heart of Saint-Julien, the château derives its name from the expression "baisse-voile": in the 17th century, ships passing in front of the property saluted the Duke of Épernon, Grand Admiral of France, by lowering their sails.

Today, the property belongs to the Grands Millésimes de France group (Castel & Suntory) and is managed by Philippe Blanc, a respected figure in the Bordeaux vineyard.

An exceptional terroir in Saint-Julien

The 90-hectare vineyard rests on gently sloping Garonne gravel, benefiting from excellent natural drainage. The typical Médoc grape varieties are respected: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, with vines averaging 30 years old.

A modern and respectful vinification

After major investments in a new ultra-modern gravity-fed winery, the estate vinifies by plot to best express the finesse of its terroirs. Aging is done in French oak barrels (50–70% new) for 18 months. The style combines the richness of the fruit with a silky texture and great freshness.
