Domaine Zind-Humbrecht — Power, balance, and terroir truth

Based in Turckheim, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is one of the great names of Alsace, producing white wines of exceptional depth, clarity, and longevity. Led by Olivier Humbrecht MW, the estate combines world-class terroirs, strict biodynamic farming, and thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking.

From Grands Crus like Rangen de Thann, Hengst, Brand, and Clos Windsbuhl, each wine reflects site, vintage, and variety with striking honesty.

Philosophy and winemaking

Zind-Humbrecht has been fully biodynamic since the 1990s, with meticulous soil work and a constant quest for natural balance in the vineyard.

Grapes are hand-harvested — often late — for full physiological ripeness. Fermentations with native yeasts can be long and slow. Aging takes place in large old oak foudres, on the lees, without stirring, allowing each wine to develop at its own pace.

Wine style

These are deep, structured, and intense white wines, always anchored by minerality and energy. Rieslings are precise, dry or off-dry, and built for aging. Pinot Gris is textured and saline. Gewurztraminer is rich, spicy, yet balanced. The estate embraces residual sugar in certain cuvées where appropriate, never at the expense of vibrancy or terroir expression.

These are age-worthy whites, yet compelling from youth.

Signature cuvées

  • Riesling Clos Windsbuhl – Focused, mineral, noble.

  • Riesling Rangen de Thann Grand Cru – Smoky, deep, and saline.

  • Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal – Often sweet or moelleux, crystalline purity.

  • Gewurztraminer Hengst Grand Cru – Spicy, complex, ageable.

  • Zind (blend) – A dry, vibrant Vin de France with real energy.

The vertical soul of Alsace

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is a beacon of precision and authenticity in Alsace. With powerful yet refined wines rooted in exceptional terroirs, it offers a vision of purity, depth, and biodynamic mastery.
