Founded in 1982 in Monforte d’Alba, at the heart of the Langhe, the Azienda Agricola Conterno-Fantino was born from the association of two emblematic names of Piedmont: Claudio Conterno, winemaker, and Guido Fantino, oenologist. Together, they have shaped a unique style that combines purity of the terroir, technical precision, and sustainable vision, with the support today of the new generation represented by Monica Conterno and Fabio Fantino.
Terroir & philosophy
The estate extends over 27 hectares of hillside vineyards, exclusively in Monforte d’Alba, on renowned crus such as Ginestra, Mosconi, Castelletto, or Bussia. These marl terroirs, rich in sands and fossils, give Nebbiolo a racy structure and a unique mineral complexity.
Since 2012, the entire vineyard has been managed organically, with meticulous attention paid to biodiversity, soil vitality, and the carbon impact of each production step.
Vinification & style
The grapes are hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and then vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. The macerations are long but gentle, and the aging is done in French barrels (mostly used) or large casks depending on the cuvée. The Conterno-Fantino style is clean, refined, energetic, capable of combining the power of the cru with great drinkability.
