Founded in 1980 by Mariano García, former legendary oenologist of Vega Sicilia (1968–1998), Bodegas Mauro has become an absolute reference in the Spanish wine landscape. Located in Tudela de Duero, just at the edge of the Ribera del Duero appellation, Mauro deliberately claims a freedom of expression outside D.O., in the service of excellence.

Alongside his sons Eduardo and Alberto García, Mariano defends a craft and rigorous philosophy, centered on respect for the fruit, precision in blending, and aging potential. Each wine is designed to reflect its origin, depth, and potential.

Terroir & winemaking

The vineyard extends mainly around Tudela and Traspinedo, on poor and gravelly soils, at 700-800 m altitude, favorable to natural concentration. The old vines of Tempranillo and Syrah (as a complement) are cultivated in organic farming, without certification, with extreme attention paid to each plot.

Fermentations are conducted in concrete or stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts, then the wines are aged in carefully selected French and American barrels, in an always elegant style, without excessive wood.

Iconic cuvées

  • Mauro: flagship cuvée, predominantly Tempranillo, combining black fruit, minerality, and silky structure.

  • Mauro VS (Vendimia Seleccionada): selection cuvée, intense and deep, great aging potential.

  • Terreus: micro-plot of Paraje de Cueva Baja, cult and complex wine, absolute rarity.

  • Garmón (separate project in Ribera): straighter and more tense style, vinified in Quintanilla.
