Founded in 1982 in the heart of Oakville, Cardinale Estate is one of the most exclusive estates in Napa Valley. Owned by the prestigious Jackson Family Wines group, Cardinale stands out with a rare ambition: to produce only one wine each year, a great blended Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the finest mountain terroirs in the region.

This meticulous project is entrusted to Christopher Carpenter, a talented winemaker with a deeply parcel-based vision. For over twenty years, he has crafted vintage after vintage a unique wine, a true synthesis of high-altitude Napa, where each component is chiseled like a precious stone.

A composite, precise, and sculptural terroir

Cardinale draws its strength from the geological diversity of the vineyards it assembles: Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Diamond Mountain, Spring Mountain, Stags Leap, Atlas Peak... These high-altitude terroirs offer grapes with concentrated fruit, structured tannins, and natural mineral freshness. Each parcel is vinified separately, with obsessive attention to the expression of the place.

A monumental and refined style

Cardinale is a wine of great intensity, crafted for aging but remarkable for its precision and balance. The Cabernet Sauvignon, often complemented by a touch of Merlot, reveals a deep bouquet of blackcurrant, graphite, violet, licorice, supported by a dense framework and silky tannins. The aging in new barrels (100% French oak) refines the whole without ever overpowering the fruit.
