Harmonic concentration, Bordeaux finesse, and prestigious terroir
Small exceptional estate on 2.5 hectares in the heart of Pomerol, Clos Dubreuil was recently acquired by a passionate family eager to fully express this sandy-clay terroir on ferruginous gravel. The project combines viticultural precision, well-managed aging, and elegant expression of Merlot.
Terroir & grape varieties
Typical Pomerol soil: red sand, clay, and ferruginous gravel offering good water retention and balanced drainage. The main grape variety is Merlot (~75%), accompanied by a minority of Cabernet Franc (~20%), from vines aged 25 to 40 years.
Viticulture & winemaking
Entirely manual harvesting with meticulous sorting. Fermentations are slow, in temperature-controlled vats, with gentle pump-overs to preserve the finesse of the tannins. Aging lasts 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, about 50% new wood, allowing for a round and silky structure.
Style & aging potential
The wine presents an intense color and a bouquet of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, plum), cedar, cocoa, and fine spices, with a subtle earthy touch. The palate is ample, velvety, structured, with a long saline finish. Estimated aging potential: 15 to 25 years, depending on the vintage, with a peak between 8 and 12 years.
