Domaine Leflaive – Heritage and Biodynamic Sophistication in Puligny‑Montrachet

Based in Puligny‑Montrachet, Domaine Leflaive is a benchmark of white Burgundy excellence. The estate spans roughly 12 hectares of Chardonnay, including holdings in prestigious Grand Crus (Bâtard‑Montrachet, Chevalier‑Montrachet, Bienvenues‑Bâtard‑Montrachet) and several distinguished Premiers Crus such as Clavoillon, Folatières, and En La Rue.

A pioneer of biodynamic viticulture since the early 1990s, Leflaive integrates cover cropping, gentle soil work, and natural preparations while eliminating herbicides and minimizing sulfur usage. Harvests are plot-specific and vinified separately to preserve individual expression.

Winemaking involves whole-cluster pressing, native yeast fermentations, and elevage in old barrels or stainless steel depending on the cuvée. Aging lasts 12–18 months, with controlled use of new oak (up to 25 %). Wines are bottled with minimal handling, without fining or filtration, guided by a philosophy of purity and terroir intensity.

Leflaive’s wines are characterized by crystalline precision, saline tension, and aromatic nuance—white fruit, florals, grilled hazelnut and limestone minerality. Grand Crus reveal majestic verticality and depth; Premiers Crus combine finesse and structure, while village-level Puligny wines offer clarity, freshness, and immediate charm.
