Franco-Andean alliance, elegant concentration and mineral precision

Born in 1999 from the meeting between the expertise of Château Cheval Blanc and the high-altitude terroirs of Mendoza, Cheval des Andes is a "Grand Cru of the Andes". Located at over 1,000 meters above sea level in Las Compuertas, the estate practices precision viticulture on old ungrafted Malbec vines, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The result: a wine that is both powerful, elegant, and true to the Argentine terroir.

Terroir & grape varieties

Situated on well-exposed terraces in the Luján de Cuyo region, the estate exploits plots at different altitude levels, thus optimizing the maturity of each grape variety. The blend combines Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a touch of Petit Verdot, creating a rich, bright profile while maintaining a Bordeaux-like firmness.

Viticulture & winemaking

Manual harvesting in the cool morning, followed by a rigorous sorting. Fermentations are carried out in gravity-fed tanks, with controlled macerations. The aging, about 18 months in oak barrels, brings structure, finesse, and perfect wood integration.

Style & aging potential

Cheval des Andes captivates with its deep color, aromas of black fruits, wild herbs, and graphite, supported by supple tannins and a saline finish. Its rare combination of Malbec exuberance and Bordeaux rigor makes it a wine with impressive aging potential, 15 to 30 years.

Iconic cuvées

  • Cheval des Andes: signature grand wine, ambitious and structured.

  • Cheval des Andes Parcels / Single Vineyard: micro-cuvées of Malbec from the oldest vines for maximum intensity.
