A confidential micro-estate, at the crossroads of tradition and international excellence

Nestled in the steep hills of Torroja del Priorat, at the heart of the mythical Catalan appellation, Bodegas Melis is a unique estate. Created by Swiss businessman and wine enthusiast Markus Conrad, Melis embodies a bold and resolutely qualitative vision of Priorat: that of a rare vintage, shaped by human hands but rooted in the purest truth of the terroir.

This boutique estate, with very low yields, produces only a few thousand bottles per year. It benefits from the advice of Patrick Valette, a famous Bordeaux oenologist (formerly of Château Pavie), who guarantees a precise, deep, and internationally recognized style.

An exceptional, raw, and mineral terroir

The vines of Melis grow on the famous llicorella slopes, those typical black schists of Priorat, which give the wines their mineral signature and unique intensity. The altitude, southern exposure, and Mediterranean climate produce ripe but always balanced grapes, with impressive natural concentrations.

The grape varieties mix old vines of Garnacha and Carignan, complemented by Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, cultivated without herbicides, respecting the soil and the plant.

A structured, refined, international style

The wines of Melis captivate with their sumptuous density, deep fruit (blackberry, black cherry, fig), and a graphite and spicy framework, reminiscent of the best grands crus. The winemaking is meticulous: slow fermentations, prolonged macerations, aging in new French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. The result? Powerful wines, but never heavy, capable of harmonious aging.

Iconic cuvées

  • Melis: The estate's grand wine, crafted for aging, intense, velvety, and concentrated, with a strong terroir signature. A rare and coveted cuvée.

  • Melis Clos: A more immediate expression, accessible young, but with the same winemaking rigor and elegance.

  • Melis Blanc (limited edition): An original white for aging, based on Grenache Blanche, offering tension, salinity, and texture.

An artisanal and uncompromising philosophy

At Melis, every grape counts. Harvesting is manual, sorted berry by berry. The parcel work is pushed to the extreme, and human intervention is always discreet. The intention is clear: to let Priorat express itself in its purest form, without superfluous stylistic effects.

Why choose Bodegas Melis?

Because it is one of Priorat's best-kept secrets, a rare, demanding estate, offering powerful, sensual wines of great nobility of expression. The choice for enthusiasts of singular vintages.
