Balance, complexity, and precision at the heart of Graves

Located in Léognan, south of Bordeaux, Château Malartic-Lagravière is one of the few Bordeaux estates classified for both red and white wines. Grand Cru Classé de Graves in 1953, the estate spans 73 hectares of vines cultivated with precision on a superb terroir of dry and deep gravel. Since 1997, the Bonnie family (Alfred, then Jean-Jacques Bonnie and his sister Véronique) has infused a new qualitative momentum, combining technological precision, respect for the soil, and stylistic elegance.

An exceptional terroir

The vineyard rests on a Günzian gravel mound on a limestone and clay-limestone base. This complex geology promotes deep rooting and slow ripening, ideal for expressing the nobility of Bordeaux grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the red grape varieties, accompanied by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. For the whites, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon form a brilliant duo of aroma and texture.

High fashion viticulture

Certified HVE 3 and in organic conversion, the estate favors sustainable practices and a rigorous plot-based approach. Harvesting is entirely manual, with optical sorting, while red vinifications are carried out in thermo-regulated wooden or stainless steel vats, depending on the profile of each plot. The whites are vinified and aged on lees in barrels. The aging process (18 months in barrels for reds, 12 months for whites) aims for the harmonious integration of wood and purity of expression.
