Historical Alliance of White and Red, Driven by the Cathiard Family
Property acquired by the Cathiard group (also owner of Château Smith Haut Lafitte) since 1990, Château la Louvière is now managed by Éric Cathiard, assisted by Christophe Mitjavile, general manager, and Florence Dubernet, oenologist. They work together to enhance an exceptional terroir, both in white and red.

Terroir & Grape Varieties: Deep Gravel and White/Red Duality
The estate covers 75 ha: 49 ha of red (sandy gravel on limestone subsoil) and 26 ha of white (fine gravel). The red is blended from Cabernet Sauvignon (~55%), Merlot (~35%), Petit Verdot (~7%), Cabernet Franc (~3%). The white uses Sémillon (~60%) and Sauvignon Blanc (~40%), ensuring finesse and freshness.

Viticulture & Philosophy: Finesse, Duality, and Ecological Dimension
Sustainable viticulture with soil work, adapted grass cover according to the vineyards, and choice of experimental biodynamics on certain plots. Manual harvesting with careful sorting for each color, aiming for quality and balance.

Vinification & Aging: Aromatic Purity and Woody Elegance
For the reds: parcel-specific vinification in stainless steel, long macerations; aging for 16–18 months in barrels (≈50% new). For the whites: fermentation in barrels (≈30–40% new), aging for 10–12 months on lees with subtle stirring. Each wine retains tension, freshness, and natural complexity.

Iconic Cuvées
Château la Louvière Rouge: nose of black fruits, cedar, sweet spices, elegant tannins, and saline finish.
Château la Louvière Blanc: bouquet of citrus, white flowers, fresh mint; silky palate, mineral tension, and delicately lemony finish.
La Réserve de la Louvière (second wine): more accessible version, fresh, fruity, ready to drink young.
