Born in 1998 at the foot of the Andes, in the mythical region of Mendoza, the Achával Ferrer estate has established itself in a few years as one of the greatest names in Argentine wine, notably thanks to a radically qualitative approach to Malbec, the country's emblematic grape variety.
Founded by a group of Argentine and Italian friends, Achával Ferrer has always emphasized the authenticity of the terroir, low intervention, and the search for pure emotion in the glass.
Terroir: altitude, old vines, and Andean purity
The vineyards are located between 700 and 1100 meters above sea level, in the most noble sub-regions of Mendoza: Luján de Cuyo, Uco Valley (notably Altamira and Tupungato). These terroirs with poor alluvial soils, bathed in light, allow for slow ripening, natural concentrations, and preserved freshness thanks to the thermal amplitude. The vines, often centenarian and ungrafted, yield minimal outputs.
Style & philosophy
Achával Ferrer produces wines of contained intensity, almost vibrant, where the fruit is pure, deep, never weighed down by extraction or wood. The style is tense, precise, often floral, with an exceptional aging potential. Far from the stereotypes about Malbec, here everything is finesse and energy.
Iconic cuvées
Finca Altamira: icon of the estate, from pre-phylloxera vines at 1050 m altitude – mineral finesse, velvety density, depth.
Finca Bella Vista: elegance and structure, on silty soils near the Mendoza River.
Finca Mirador: intensity and verticality, sculptural wine.
Malbec Mendoza: signature blend cuvée, combining accessibility and breed.
Vinification & expertise
Fermentations are spontaneous, with little extraction, often in concrete vats. Aging is done in French barrels, with moderate use of new wood to never mask the fruit. The estate advocates for minimal intervention, respecting the identity of each plot, each vintage.
Achával Ferrer is the nobility of Malbec, magnified by altitude and the sincerity of the winemaker's gesture.
